GDAP Strengthens Ties with DFA OUECD to Promote Philippine Game Development Industry Globally

MANILA, Philippines — In a major step toward elevating Filipino-made games on the global stage, representatives from the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) held a formal courtesy call with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of the Undersecretary for Economic and Cultural Diplomacy (OUECD), led by Undersecretary Maria Andrelita Austria, last April 28.

The meeting served as a pivotal platform to strengthen collaborative efforts between GDAP and the DFA. Both organizations discussed strategic initiatives aimed at championing local game development talent, accelerating industry growth, and expanding international trade opportunities for Filipino studios.

As the prime mover of the local ecosystem, GDAP highlighted the immense potential of the Philippine creative sector and the importance of diplomatic support in showcasing Filipino intellectual property (IP) at major international trade shows and summits. The DFA OUECD expressed strong support for these goals, acknowledging the game development industry as a vital driver of the country’s modern creative economy and digital exports.
